Thermal Mass Flowmeters

A thermal mass flowmeter uses two sheathed sensors — one measures fluid temperature, the other is heated to a fixed difference above it. The power needed to replace the heat carried away by the flow correlates with mass flow, so the meter reads mass directly over a wide range, with no pressure or temperature compensation.
The MASFLO-OVAL II measures and controls gas flow by mass, including explosion-proof models. Insertion-type mass flowmeters and the multipoint K-BAR 2000B cover larger pipes and ducts, and low-cost mass flow monitors measure small flows of compressed air, nitrogen and city gas for energy-saving programmes.
