PolyWorks|Modeler — Reverse Engineering

PolyWorks|Modeler extracts CAD entities — curves, surfaces, parametric sketches and prismatic features — from polygonal models of scanned parts, as a starting point for professional CAD modelling. The workflow begins by turning point clouds into polygonal models (meshes), which can be built in real time while scanning and then repaired by filling holes, smoothing surfaces, recovering sharp edges and making them watertight.

For surface modelling it combines interactive curve creation with automatic surfacing to produce editable NURBS models for simulation, machining and design. For solid modelling it slices cross-sections to create parametric 2D sketches with dimensions and constraints, which transfer to CATIA, NX, Creo, SolidWorks and Inventor through add-ins.
