Overview

The SVM Stabinger viscometer measures kinematic viscosity, dynamic viscosity and density simultaneously from a single small sample, using a friction-free rotational measuring cell combined with an oscillating U-tube density cell. It is the modern alternative to glass capillary viscometers: no baths to maintain, no capillary to select and clean, no hazardous solvent to dispose of after every run.

Results are ASTM D7042 compliant and precision-equivalent to ASTM D445, and the instrument reports viscosity index, API gravity and other derived values automatically. The SVM 2001, SVM 3001 and SVM 4001 models step up in temperature range and accuracy, with the top models covering a wide temperature sweep for automatic viscosity index determination in one measurement sequence.

Sample changers and automated cleaning make it a practical fit for high-throughput fuel, lubricant and used-oil laboratories.
