Metallic, pearlescent and other effect coatings do not have one colour — they shift as the viewing angle changes, so a single-angle instrument cannot describe them. The 3NH multi-angle spectrophotometers, from the compact MS3003 to the eight-angle MS3008, the MS3012 and the new KS series, measure at several aspecular angles to capture that flop.
They are used wherever effect finishes have to match across parts made in different plants or from different materials, from automotive body and trim to consumer electronics housings.
